3rd Annual Burns Dinner - Good Fun!

NWJPB Celebrates Scotland’s Bard - Robert Burns

It was an exciting night of music, dancing, great food, community and good cheer.

Piping-in the haggis

Last weekend's NWJPB Burns Dinner was a big success! Huge thanks to all of the guests (nearly 200!) for coming to support our youth program.

People enjoyed delicious catered food from Shawn O'Donnell's as well as haggis from Beast & Cleaver. We had lovely highland dancing from both Karen Shelton-Johnson and Bentzen School of Highland Dance, as well as a performance by alumni Kyle Gaul and Vienna Scheyer - who presented a tear-jerking medley of self-composed tunes in honor of NWJPB and our instructors.

In addition to our Grade 4 pipe band and Parade Band, throughout the evening we had performances by our Pipe Band School beginner program, lead by instructors and assisted by our Grade 4 pipers. Accompanying the pipe band was Melanie Brauner on fiddle (and photography).

A highlight of the dinner was our take on the Burns Supper tradition of 'toasts to the lads and lassies'. Two of our band members offered toasts to the pipers and to the drummers! It was a big hit.

Our MC and Burns poet for the event was the incomperable Christian Skoorsmith - president of the Robert Burns Society of Seattle. Between music performers and dancers, Christian recited Burns poetry and song.

We finished-off the night with some lively ceilidh dancing, lead by a dance caller and teacher. It as a blast.

This was our third annual Burns Dinner and each year it gets bigger and better. If you missed it this year hopefully we'll see you in 2026!
